    According to the recent survey by Ipsos for Eagle Hill Consulting, about more than half of the US employees were worried about job exposure to the deadly coronavirus. The survey report was released on 28 April 2020 and revealed employees would be less worried if there are appropriate provisions like protective equipment like gloves, masks, and hand sanitizers are made available. In addition, about 56% of employees felt employers had the right to know whether employees tested positive for the disease or not.

The home rental startup said with the global travel being standstill due to coronavirus, the business has been hit hard. The internal memo also talked about the revenue forecast for 2020 to be less than half of what the company earned in 2019.

The airline company that braces for a prolonged travel slump due to COVID-19 says it is about to slash 3, 500 positions. The statement also revealed that management and administrative employees should take about 20 days to leave without pay between 16 May and 30 September.

    In a recent development related to coronavirus, Ryanair Holdings Plc would slash about 3, 000 jobs. The airline also said it would challenge about 30 billion euros ($33billion) in state aid that were distributed to save the airline’s European competitors. Ryanair adds on to the piling employment toll that includes 12,000 cuts at British Airways and 5,000 at SAS AB. The reductions in the job cuts would represent about 15% of Ryanair’s workforce and would include pilots and cabin crew.

    According to Glassdoor – online job board and employer review website – COVID-19 has severely impacted the internship offerings in the industries like travel and tourism. Glassdoor in its report dated 28 April 2020 revealed since 9 March 2020, there has been a major decline in internship postings by companies as compared to job opportunities. The report also revealed that till 13 April 2020, about 30,806 internship opportunities were posted on the site which is over 52% decline since the last month.

    In a recent survey carried out by the Boardlist, it was found about 40% of corporate boards lacked risk mitigation plans before the novel coronavirus outbreak. The survey results were released on 28 April 2020.  According to the survey, half of the board directors who contributed to the survey revealed their primary role during the present crisis was to provide external perspective and information.     Kronos launches automated tool to detect COVID-19 positive employees!

    According to the statement released by Kronos released on 28 April 2020, Kronos has unveiled an automated reporting tool that would allow employers to identify and communicate with employees who might have come into the contact with a co-worker who was tested positive or was presumed positive for COVID-19. The company in its statement said the tool – aids a process is known as contact tracing – would analyze labor records along with time and attendance data collected by Kronos solutions.

    In a recent development related to coronavirus pandemic, New York City’s commission on human rights created a COVID-19 response team due to a surge in cases of harassment and discrimination stemming from coronavirus. The agency revealed it had received about 248 reports of harassment and discrimination related to the novel coronavirus since February and has investigated 18 matters so far. The reports include allegations of discrimination “in housing, racial discrimination in public accommodations and employment, national origin, disability, and lawful source of income.
