India's largest airline, IndiGo, has appointed Kanwal Jeet Singh Bakshi as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective July 20, 2026, following the resignation of Sukhjit Singh Pasricha after an eight-and-a-half-year tenure.
The leadership transition was disclosed in a regulatory filing by InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of IndiGo. Pasricha will be relieved of his responsibilities at the close of business on July 19, 2026, after serving as the airline's CHRO since 2018.
Bakshi currently serves as Group Head of Human Resources at InterGlobe Enterprises and brings more than 34 years of experience across human resources leadership, organizational development, talent management, and business transformation. Before assuming his current role, he held senior HR leadership positions at IndiGo, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, Bharti Airtel, Usha India Ltd., and HMT Ltd. He also holds a postgraduate qualification in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from XLRI Jamshedpur, along with a postgraduate degree in Physics.
Pasricha's departure follows discussions with the company's leadership regarding his professional aspirations. In his resignation letter, he thanked the organization for the opportunity to contribute to IndiGo's growth and committed to supporting a smooth leadership transition before his exit.
The appointment comes during a period of broader executive changes at the airline. Over recent months, IndiGo has seen multiple senior leadership transitions as the company continues to strengthen its leadership team while pursuing fleet expansion, international growth, and workforce scaling. With these ambitions, the HR function is expected to play an increasingly strategic role in talent acquisition, leadership development, organizational capability, and employee experience.
Bakshi's return to IndiGo is expected to provide continuity, given his previous experience with the airline and his familiarity with the broader InterGlobe ecosystem. His appointment also reflects the company's focus on strengthening people leadership as it prepares for the next phase of expansion.
The Board of InterGlobe Aviation approved Bakshi's appointment as Group Head of Human Resources in the role of Chief Human Resources Officer, effective July 20, ensuring continuity in the company's people strategy during an important phase of organizational growth.
